My name is Michael Olszak. I was born in Poland and moved to The Netherlands when I was 13 years old.
Ever since I saw a guy at school draw Spider-Man I was sold! Not only to the amazing art, but the comic book gave me something that inspired me to pick up the pencil myself and helped me through some tough times. This evolved into love for art in general. From fine art to conceptual art for games and movies, cartoons and all kinds of amazing stuff.
The expressions, compositions, horrors and moods conveyed by so many amazing artists like Simon Bisley, Todd McFarlane, Frank Frazetta and Feng Zhu created a drive to become an artist myself.
I have experimented with traditional mediums like pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, watercolors, gouache, oil and acrylic painting as well as digital tools like Corel Painter, Photoshop, Procreate, Newtek’s Lightwave, 3D Studio Max and Maya.
Even though I’m mostly a self-taught artist, learning mainly from books, online-resources and observation I have, over the years sought out help from others. Cor Jacobi in Helmond, thought me the basics of Oil painting. I look back very fondly at my weekly visits to his atelier. A mentorship with Bobby Rebholz to learn how concepting works. Among other places/ resources I have learned from are Yourtube, Skillshare, SVSLearn.com, ArtWod, “De Teken Academie” during Covid and in June 2025 I finished my first year at “Municipal Academy of Fine Arts” in Arendonk, Belgium.
The art journey continues.
